About Novomatic
Founded in 1980 as a manufacturer and distributor of physical gaming machines, Austria-based Novomatic is today the largest conglomerate of gaming companies in the world, with over 19,000 employees worldwide. It is the biggest land-based casino game provider, serving 70 different countries around the globe, and turning over more than €3 billion in 2011.
The popularity of its slot games in land casinos, in particular across Europe, underpins its success in online gaming, and many of its most popular games from that domain have made the transition to online platforms. In September 2011, the group took over Greentube Internet Entertainment Solutions GmbH (founded in 1998), which has considerable experience in the online gaming sphere. Greentube has now developed into a market-leading full service provider in the online gaming and entertainment market, and continues to be a pioneer in the development and provision of state-of-the-art gaming solutions. In 2015 Greentube and their parent company, the Novomatic Group, forged a content agreement with Genesis Software International Ltd (Genesis Gaming).
Slots
Novomatic’s top games are likely to be familiar to many players with some experience of gambling online. Book of Ra, its Indiana Jones-themed slot, is popular with gamers across the globe, comprising five reels and ten paylines, plus wild/scatter symbols and numerous bonuses. Other popular games in its line-up include Lucky Lady’s Charm and Sizzling Hot, a joyful throwback to old-style fruit machines. All three games have enjoyed such success that Novomatic has released updated ‘Deluxe’ versions of the slots.
Terms of Software
A great deal of Novomatic’s focus in terms of software is on slot games, of which there are more than 40 available to play at a range of different gaming sites. Alongside these, players can find a number of table and skill-based games, including a handful of roulette and card games, taking the total number of browser-based games to around 80. There are also about a dozen mobile games available, plus a collection of free-to-download games in Novomatic’s eSport series.
Look & Feel A Special Adventure
Novomatic games all carry a certain look and feel that even newcomers will be able to pick up on. Dominated by bright, bold colours and characterised by crisp visuals and clean edges, Novomatic games are pleasing if slightly startling at times. The sound effects are similarly vibrant, contributing to the look and feel of each game. For example, the popular Columbus Deluxe slot uses a number of sailing-themed sound effects and triumphant fanfares to convey the theme of adventure.
Many Novomatic slots contain a ‘gamble’ feature that gives gamers the opportunity to multiply their win a number of times by predicting whether the next turn of a card will be black or red. Players can choose to collect their win at any point, or to carry on gambling – this adds to the excitement of the slot games, along with their free spins and other bonuses.
No Jackpots – High Payout
Novomatic games do not offer a jackpot network, meaning that there’s no single, massive pot to look out for. The majority of Novomatic’s slots are non-progressive, but there are a few titles that offer individual progressive jackpots, such as King’s Treasure and Golden Sevens. The games have very varied payouts, ranging from figures like £2,500 all the way up to sums like £100,000.
Another Games
Although Novomatic has its roots in land-based casinos, there is no live casino offering in its portfolio of online games. Traditional casino games like roulette, blackjack and poker can all be found, but they’re vastly outnumbered by the range of slots.
In the past couple of years, Novomatic has released mobile versions of some of its more popular slot games, like Book of Ra Classic and Sizzling Hot Deluxe, but there aren’t many online casinos offering them on their current mobile platforms.
Novomatic has also developed an online poker platform that can seat up to 10 players at a table, plus software for both 75-ball and 90-ball online bingo. Away from casino titles, it offers a range of free downloadable eSports games, plus skill games like backgammon and mahjong.
